ABSTRACT

With the increasingly stringent requirements of international ship emission control, LNG, as a marine fuel with its advantages of green, environmental protection, and energy conservation, has attracted more and more attention from shipping countries and shipping enterprises. The increasing number of internationally LNG-powered vessels and the vessel refitting LNG ready raise the attention of LNG refueling center construction. It could be an important measure for countries to attract international trade and consolidate their position as a shipping hub. This research topic is also significant to China, which has the world's most connected shipping networks. The case study method is employed in this paper, and the overview of 10 typical ports that have experiences in LNG bunkering center construction in Europe, North America, and Asia are given from three perspectives in terms of location advantages, policy support, and LNG resource condition. The summarized experiences have been applied in China to find potential LNG bunkering centers using the AHP-TOPSIS method.
