ABSTRACT

Background: Almost any physical loss or change can cause psychological trauma to those who experience it, as a result, it is not uncommon for patients to become low self-esteem, irritable and angry. The same thing can happen to patients who have lost their teeth, especially their front teeth. Such a loss not only causes psychological trauma but also disrupts mastication and phonetic functions. Besides that, in this era of the COVID-19 pandemic, patients are increasingly critical of perfect results in a short time. Objective: To discuss treatment management and techniques for fabricating immediate removable dentures as an alternative treatment in cases where patients don’t want to experience periods of tooth loss or edentulous. Case: A 60-year-old female patient comes with complaints of Acrylic partial dentures made by a denturist, which didn’t look aesthetically and functionally uncomfortable. It turned out that the denture was attached using self-curing acrylic to the existing natural teeth. This caused almost all of the natural teeth to become loose so that the old acrylic denture had to be removed and dismantled. Meanwhile, the patient doesn’t want to experience a period of tooth loss because of embarrassment when seen by other people. Case management: One of the alternative treatment measures that dentists can perform is by constructing immediate removable dentures. Conclusion: Immediate removable dentures can be used as an alternative treatment over conventional dentures, in cases where the patient doesn’t want to experience a period of tooth loss. This type of denture can be done both on patients who have never used or who have used dentures before.
