ABSTRACT

According to RISKESDAS 2018, 57.6% of the Indonesian population had oral health-related issues that negatively impacted their quality of life (QOL). Typically, the OHIP-49 (Oral Health Impact Profile-49) questionnaire was often utilized to measure this QOL. This questionnaire encompasses seven dimensions: functional limitation, physical pain, psychological discomfort, physical disability, psychological disability, social disability, and handicap. This observational study aimed to validate the Indonesian version of the OHIP-49 on dental patients at the University Dental Hospital. Methods: Translation of OHIP-49 English to Bahasa and translated back to English by two different certified translators. The Indonesian questionnaire item is revised if there is a discrepancy between the initial English and the translation. Preliminary research was conducted on 114 subjects using the OHIP-49 Bahasa questionnaire. The collected questionnaire data was processed using Rasch model analysis. The mean age was 23.3 + 3.92 years old. The questionnaire's Cronbach's alpha was 0.97, and item reliability was 0.99, with a separation of 8.28. The infit and outfit of the item's mean square (0.5 – 1.5) and Z standard score (−2 to +2) fell within the range of validity. Andrich's threshold demonstrated a negative to positive congruence score. The test for unidimensionality revealed an eigenvalue of 5.62. The OHIP-49 questionnaire's Indonesian version demonstrated excellent construct validity and item reliability.
