ABSTRACT

Due to the growth of information and communication technologies as well as the integration of advanced analytics into the production of goods and services, including integration, or CPSs, many sectors are facing both opportunities and challenges in maintaining their competitiveness and meeting market demands. CPS enables the rational conversion of enormous amounts of data into information, which reveals underlying degradation and efficacy patterns and facilitates the best possible decision-making. This chapter focuses on recent trends and challenges for big data analytics in Industry 4.0 employing CPS with an emphasis on three future and promising fields of medical research – image-, signal-, and genome-based analytics. Potential research areas in this domain that might have a significant impact on Industry 4.0 and healthcare are also perceived.
