ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with various aspects of cyber-physical systems (CPSs) and their applications in human lives. This study also outlines the various threats that attackers use to make life difficult for those who work for CPS and the remedies that can be used to counteract those threats. The design of a CPS includes the entire workflow and applications of CPS in various areas such as manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and smart infrastructure. This chapter also outlines a cyber-physical system’s architecture, allowing us to objectify the various features of a typical CPS. The cyber-physical system’s amenities and how they adapt to modern use are described in this architecture, also known as the 5C architecture. The study also focuses on various areas of security aspects and how attacks exploit personal information. This chapter explicitly determines the attack names and their applicability in the various parts of CPS. As cyber-physical systems emerge with IoT Industry 4.0, they become lucrative to the attackers equipped with the threats linked with Industry 4.0, so the chapter also describes various safety measures to handle these threats how to make the attacks in practical scenarios. As real-time applications are indulged by cyber-physical systems, the data transfer rates increase, which is the main reason for the major emphasis on cyber-physical systems.
