ABSTRACT

The term cyber-physical system (CPS) refers to a system that combines and monitors physical processes, computing resources, and networking nodes. CPS has a huge impact on IoT-based businesses and provides significant economic opportunities. Therefore, there are growing security concerns due to the interdependence of the physical and digital worlds and the complexity of modern communication networks. Consequently, their safety and robustness are now crucial in every facet of contemporary life. Thus, lightweight cryptography has emerged as a blooming technology to provide security and privacy to resource-constrained applications such as IoT, embedded systems, CPS, WSNs, RFID systems, and vehicular ad hoc networks. In this chapter, a comparative analysis of some lightweight cryptographic algorithms for CPS is presented.
