ABSTRACT

The transport industry is being transformed by artificial intelligence (AI). It is now implemented in various transport areas, from helping vehicles, trains, ships, and airplanes to work autonomously, to make traffic flows smoother. In addition to making our lives better, it will help make other forms of travel easier, safer, more effective and smarter. AI-led autonomous transport could for instance help to reduce the human errors that are involved in many traffic accidents. These prospects, though, raise real obstacles, including unforeseen effects and misuse, such as cyberattacks and skewed transport decisions. There are also job consequences and legal concerns related to responsibility for actions made on the spot by AI on humans. Society has accepted the concept of smart transportation and has implemented it broadly. At the same time, smart transportation 200challenges are emerging, and a new path for its growth is given by the internet of things (IoT). The dream of a smart city administration structure using strong and sophisticated connectivity technology has been realized by IoT-based transport networks. In this chapter, we will concentrate on the smart transportation IoT system and innovations that play a key role in the management system of smart transport. And also, we will look at the role of IoT and AI in the transportation industry and highlight different applications where IoT architecture can be implemented.
