ABSTRACT
The importance of honeybees on the island of Sri Lanka comes from their value as opportunistic flower visitors, thus giving an immense service in maintaining the high biodiversity. They play a vital role in the pollination of plants, which is important in maintaining the natural ecosystems while contributing to the agricultural productivity. They are a champion group in utilization-based conservation.
