ABSTRACT

Smart building is a significant direction of future urban development, which is related to our life and well-being. However, there is still a lack of bibliometric analysis of its research status and development trend. This study retrieved 12,321 articles related to smart buildings in the Scopus database in the past ten years (2012-2022). We used CiteSpace for visualizing and analyzing international cooperation, research hotspots, and research frontiers.

The results show that academic cooperation in the field of smart building can be divided into three clusters, which are largely influenced by geography. Internet of Things, Energy Management, and smart power grid are the research hotspots recently. Ambient Intelligence, Deep Learning, Solar Building, Blockchain, and other technologies are the research frontiers at present and may be the next research hotspots. This study provides a reference for the further development and application of smart buildings.
