ABSTRACT

In order to explore how to promote carbon emission reduction in the construction field to help achieve the “dual carbon” goal, the paper takes the low-carbon pilot policy in China as a quasi-natural experiment to investigate the impact of this policy on building carbon emissions. The empirical results show that the low-carbon pilot policy has a significant inhibitory effect on building carbon emissions, and the policy effect is time-sensitive. The results are still valid after a series of robustness tests. The pilot provinces mainly achieve carbon emission reduction by reducing building energy consumption, while the effect of adjusting the energy structure is not obvious.
