ABSTRACT
Demands for reducing energy consumption and environmental impact have continuously expanded demand for eco-friendly, sustainable, and biodegradable natural fiber-reinforced composites. Natural fibers have attracted researchers, as an alternative to synthetic filler in composites. Due to their low cost, excellent mechanical properties, high specific strength, eco-friendly, and biodegradable characteristics, they are used as a good replacement for conventional fibers. This chapter gives a view of fibers and their application as reinforcement in composites. The mechanical properties and applications of natural fiber-reinforced composites are also discussed.
