ABSTRACT

This chapter presented the structure, classification, and chemical composition of various organo-mineral composite materials and a descriptive analysis of their adsorption behavior. This work is devoted to the synthesis and research of the adsorption properties of composite materials based on silica and aluminosilicate minerals of Ukraine immobilized by different methods in their surface layer with polymers of different chemical natures in relation to toxic metal ions. The main factors influencing the adsorption properties of such organo-mineral composites are considered, namely, the chemical nature of the polymer, the inorganic carrier, and the method of fixing the polymer on the surface. This chapter confirmed that modified forms of clay minerals have excellent feasibility in removing different toxic aquatic metal pollutants.
