ABSTRACT

From the viewpoint of energy and resources saving, it may be very advantageous to use the waste concrete as construction materials. Recycled aggregates obtained from old pavements can be effectively used as an aggregate for paving concrete or lean concrete base. This study mainly consists of two experiment. The experiment I aims at investigating the properties of recycled aggregates obtained from old pavements in relation to their application as an aggregate for paving concrete. The experiment II is concerned with the properties of high fly ash lean concrete made with recycled aggregates and its applicability as a material for base course. The experimental results show that recycled aggregates obtained from old pavements have more favorable physical properties as a concrete aggregate compared with recycled aggregates obtained from old buildings, and that recycled aggregates from pavement can be used as a concrete aggregate not only for lean concrete base but also for concrete paving.
