ABSTRACT
Recent progress in the photodegradation of polystyrene is reviewed in this chapter. A wide range of current studies concerning the photodegradation of polystyrene have been published and it is necessary to compile the information from various papers. This chapter covers fields such as analytical techniques in photodegradation applied for polystyrene, photoinitiation and elementary processes of photodegradation of polystyrene, the photodegradation mechanism in solid films and in solutions, photosensitized degradation, factors affecting photodegradation, and photodegradation of copolymers and blends of polystyrene with other polymers.
