ABSTRACT

In 1989 we reviewed the effectiveness of the Clinical Pharmacokinetics Service * at Glasgow Royal Infirmary for 574 digoxin requests and concluded that the service “probably contributed to improved clinical decision making” (1). We have now reviewed a total of 2961 requests, asking the following questions: Was adequate clinical information provided? Did the digoxin concentration confirm or refute the clinical impression? Was the service being sensibly used?
