ABSTRACT
The medical profession has felt the need almost since its inception to be bound by a written code of duty, obligation, and behavior. But if one takes seriously the dictum of Herbert Spencer, the 19th century British philosopher who believed that no one can be perfectly moral until all are moral, then maybe the time has come to look at a code of ethics for patients.
