ABSTRACT

Planar single cells of 5, 10, and 23 cm square have been manufactured and tested. Attention has been focused on controlling the microstructure of the electrodes. A newly-developed electrode preparation process has dramatically reduced the interfacial resistance and has realized excellent results: a power density of 0.65 W/cm2 in 5 cm square cells and a total power of 97 W in 23 cm square cells. Ten-cell stacks of 5 cm square cells and three-cell stacks of 10 cm square cells incorporating doped lanthanum chromite separators were also successfully manufactured, and their fairly good performance was experimentally demonstrated.
