ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the similitude ratio is shown for various physical phenomena. The similitude ratios of the fluid and ground are shown first; then, the similitude ratio of the phenomenon with the fluid and ground combined is shown. Note that phenomena involving both a fluid and the ground are not limited to those in a narrow region near the ground surface where the fluid and the ground come into contact and mix with each other. This is also a problem over a wide area in which the entire ground becomes unstable because of waves and other hydraulic phenomena. It is also possible to apply conventional fluid–ground similitude ratios to this phenomenon. In this chapter, these are explained separately.
