ABSTRACT
With the rapid development of China's economy, the rising consumption level, and the spiritual civilization needs of the domestic public, the public requirements for residential decoration design are also increasing. Especially the ceiling, door, and window decoration, wall decoration, wiring installation, and other details involved in the decoration design are now the focus of public attention. As the construction industry serves as a promoter of digital transformation, BIM technology, as a driver of digital transformation in the construction industry, has many advantages, such as visualization, information technology, simulation, collaboration, intelligence, and so on, which meet the needs of the public (Xu 2021) However, BIM technology is still in its early stages of development, and its application in building decoration design projects is still insufficient. Therefore, based on the literature review and expert interviews, this paper identifies the factors that hinder the application of BIM technology in decoration design projects, uses the explanatory structural modeling method to analyze the relevant hindering factors systematically, and then proposes recommendations to promote the application of BIM technology in decoration design projects on this basis.
