ABSTRACT

In order to adapt to the temperature expansion of the bridge, the shrinkage and creep of concrete, and the displacement of the beam structure under the action of load, the expansion and contraction installation for highway bridge should provide enough stagger which is reflected in the different directions of the bridge. This study focuses on the stagger performance of the expansion and contraction installation in different directions. It analyzes and compares the definition of stagger and the test method of stagger performance in the new and old industry standards of expansion and contraction installation. Then the law is summarized, and the reasonable interpretation and applicable test methods for the stagger in different directions are explored. The study can provide a reference for future research on the stagger performance and the specification of standard terms of the expansion and contraction installation for a highway bridge.
