ABSTRACT
As a result of rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, it has been important to integrate smart data processing and inferencing solutions in different fields of life. Although artificial intelligence solutions were used mostly in technical fields, the situation has changed in the current century. Today, artificial intelligence-based smart systems are widely used in the fields where social science aspects and human are important. At this point, applications including the human factor can require more complicated data produced by user actions. Because of this, data gathering mediums like social media, mobile devices, and user-sensing tools have been widely used to establish advanced solutions. Among these some rising areas need careful evaluation of smart systems. In the intersection of healthcare and tourism, health tourism has become trendy as a result of improved communication and data processing technologies. Associated with this, artificial intelligence needs to deal with more data to ensure the desired health tourism-based experiences for all types of users using the applications. However, more complicated form of artificial intelligence required some adjustments to improve trust level. This chapter provides a general overview of the use of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) in the medical tourism domain, which is a specific type of health tourism application.
