ABSTRACT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an expansion of the Internet, connecting various devices to enable intelligent identification, positioning, tracing, monitoring, and network management through the exchange of information. It has wide-ranging applications, including healthcare, agriculture, intelligent manufacturing, finance, etc. As such, healthcare IoT networks or the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) focus on the network of Internet-connected medical devices, hardware infrastructure, and software applications used to connect healthcare information technology. Like any energy-aware IoT technology, IoMT is commonly employed with Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) to collect and transmit healthcare data over distance networks autonomously. In this chapter, we shed light on the blockchain solutions for cybercriminals, concepts, elements, structure, and other aspects of blockchain utilization. Specifically, this chapter will extend the elaboration on the Internet of Things (IoT), healthcare IoT networks, different types of wearables, LPWAN protocol, LPWAN architectures, types of LPWAN technologies, LPWAN technologies in unlicensed spectrum, applications of LPWAN, healthcare IoT networks using LPWAN, and future of healthcare IoT networks using LPWAN.
