ABSTRACT

LPWAN technology is growing significantly in managing the consumption of energy due to its low power usage and its ability to connect over distant places, along with its affordability. As people use vast Internet of things (IoT) devices, LPWAN-based sensors can gather information about energy usage, temperature, humidity, and other factors, while also allowing for real-time tracking and control of energy consumption. This is particularly important in energy industry, where it is essential to have better dependability and effectiveness. This chapter discusses various types of LPWAN technology including their structure, methods of communication and the devices used in demand aspect control. It explores the significance of demand aspect control in the energy sector as well as the challenges and opportunities in this field. Demand response programs and load shifting techniques are discussed as effective ways to balance energy supply and demand during peak periods. Moreover, this chapter also gives details about the practical applications of LPWAN technology in residential and commercial sectors. It highlights smart grid integration and optimization as a vital component of energy management and also provides examples of successful implementation of LPWAN technology in demand side management. It further discusses emerging trends and technologies in LPWAN like synthetic intelligence and machine getting to know algorithms, asset control, and predictive protection. It also looks at the potential future developments and challenges such as the increased use of renewable energy sources and cybersecurity risks.
