ABSTRACT

Steganography is the technique that hides the information from the plain text and conceals the secret text. Stegwares are masked into the digital files which are not visible to the naked eye and cause a serious security threat. These files are of low security risks and are a gateway for cyber attackers to conceal malicious content. Amidst the growth of security, malware are growing at a very rapid rate on each day making the researchers and security analyst difficult to analyze and detect the malware. A stegware is a stealthy malware that is increasing rapidly. Stegware authors and cyber security professionals tend to increase the devising techniques and reinvent the existing ones to hunt the stegware. Recent years, the growth in stegware has increased which makes the security analysts and researchers discover the techniques. While, the attackers and hackers master the stegware and their applications. The growth in stegware causes a great threat to the social and economic sector. These causes are nonnegligible as the attackers have evolved over time and exploit the victims to the maximum. Similar to stegware, phenomena like mobile malware, fireless malware are also widespread and are a serious threat to digital content on the internet. Thus the development of tools or models to identify the stegware has spurred in recent days. The rise in stegware has resulted in several manipulations in the confidential data. This study dissects the stegware and analyzes its behavior through which a detailed report on the stegware family can be studied. Further, the history of stegware, comparison between stegware and steganalysis.
