ABSTRACT

Green communication is one of the core requirements for next-generation wireless communications networks. Smart and integrated devices and wireless networks have received immense attention. In these networks, multiple smart devices are connected and capable of performing their operations; application fields include the Artificial Internet of Things (AIoT). Due to the number of connected intelligent limited resources devices and nodes, energy is one of the core requirements for smooth services and applications. Because the applications of AIoT networks are equipped with sensing, detection, listening, and thinking capabilities which consume more energy and resources, many different solutions have been proposed to address energy issues in these networks, like energy harvesting for an alternate energy source. Reliable green communication solutions are needed to ensure the maximum network life, low latency, load balancing, network overhead, and high connectivity for AIoT networks. This chapter presents a comprehensive review of existing energy solutions, discusses their limitations and issues, and then proposes a green communication solution, especially for AIoT networks.
