ABSTRACT

The increased demand for high-performance computing systems in various scientific fields opens new areas like the Artificial Internet of Things (AIoT). These networks are connected with AI and devices with advanced abilities like thinking, seeing, speaking, and hearing. Applications of these networks are utilized in smart homes, smart healthcare, smart grids, and smart industrial networks, such as image classification, object detection, text spots, human pose estimation, depth estimation, speech recognition, and multimedia analysis. AIoT applications offer everyday services where devices are connected for several monitoring, data communication, and sensing capabilities. This chapter presents a comprehensive survey of these applications and services starting from a generic sense of understanding, human-centric perceiving, and natural language processing. This chapter also covers the key issues of application adoption related to interoperability, standardization, scalability, and data analytics in AIoT networks. In addition, this chapter explores existing solutions toward adoption of AIoT applications for smart homes, smart industries, smart healthcare, and smart cities to facilitate more comfort and convenience for users.
