ABSTRACT

Tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. At the same time, with the desire of travelers for new brand tourism experiences, climate changes, the rapid global technological advancements, and other dynamics, the tourism industry is constantly transforming to digitalization. The tourism industry faced significant challenges and uncomfortable changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, there are still growing digital tourism trends that can help the industry suppliers restart their businesses and experience success until the sector gets into the new normal. Digitalization has played a crucial role in the tourism industry over the last decade. E-tourism has assisted enhance operational efficiency, reducing expenses, and developing services and customer experience. Businesses and travelers benefit from enhanced communication, guest service, and reservation systems. IT has helped the tourism industry replace costly human labor with IT labor. In addition, this can reduce labor costs and avoid customer service problems. Future development of trends in e-tourism is strongly correlated with the development of digitalization. Almost both leisure and business travelers make their arrangements through the internet. It means the industry integrated into digitalization using hardware, software, the internet, innovative 144technology, and webpage trends. All the above-mentioned digital trends are widely used to improve tourism services and hospitality management.

This chapter presents the current digital tourism trends, focusing on the impact of COVID-19 on digital tourism trends and how they are implemented to recover the industry during the post-COVID period, specified in the case of Uzbekistan and some other countries. The chapter also presents how digital tourism trends shape the industry’s future.
