ABSTRACT

Travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors also benefit from artificial intelligence (AI) and IoT technologies. Its applications can be seen in varied tour and travel websites, chat robots, smart tour and travel agents, and predicting systems. Recent advancements in Big Data and computational intelligence have led to significant enhancements in the field of AI. With time, the whole scenario, including all processes and procedures of the travel and tourism industry, has changed. Information and Communication technologies in tourism have coined the concept of e-tourism, which has opened a new plethora of opportunities in contemporary tourism and hospitality business. It has enabled researchers in developing models to read the behavior of travelers besides suggesting them varied holiday packages, apart from that handling and managing data generated from travelers and the hospitality sector end. According to information and communication technology, AI is considered as next level in the travel and tourism business. An AI-based system is responsible for sensing exterior info, comprehending it, and then acting in order to accomplish said objectives. The manuscript discusses the foundations of IT in AI, which is quite pertinent for travel besides vacation business apart from addressing AI tools and systems applicable in this particular segment. Secondly, it discourses the impact of the pandemic on the travel and tourism business and its proposed solutions apart from the role of AI, its influence on the existing hospitality business, and the role of chatbots and robots with some discussion on the existing AI framework implementation for tourism business. Lastly, it is concluded with the introduction of Metaverse methods for uplifting tourism with future advancements.
