ABSTRACT

The main aim of this chapter is to find a way for a better Hotel Management System that would address the requirement of customers and would not take a toll on the mechanical network of the system. This chapter focuses on providing solutions to the limitations in the hospitality industry, such as lack of consistency in cleanliness management, difficulties in managing energy resources, and addressing the security and safety challenges in the hotel environment. The chapter uses a conceptual approach where the current information about IoT in the hospitality industry is considered to calculate limitations and provide corresponding solutions. The chapter uses secondary data and information from other sources such as journals, conference papers, research articles and the Internet. This chapter uses Big Data analytics using the ‘divide and conquer’ methodology to create a framework of the hotel system to find solutions for limitations using the Internet, cloud, devices or things, sensors, smart devices, image recognition and data analysis as they appear. It also aims to provide methods to make the solution more practical and spread it to hospitality industry segments like hotels, resorts, and many more. The chapter also discusses the survey result, which focuses on understanding the preference of technology over services. This system could change the mechanism of standard hotels as people prefer these services over regular hotels. It could bring the change we wish to see in the hospitality industry.
