ABSTRACT

The technological age has ushered in a new dimension in many fields. No field, be it technical or not, has remained untouched by its impact. The hospitality industry has progressed towards a new age of transformation with artificial intelligence (AI). AI is being utilized in the sector in several manners. AI-powered robots have replaced human attendants, and AI-based applications manage the booking process. Considering the requirement of the hospitality industry, the use of AI has become inevitable. The growing demand for personalized services has forced the industry to adopt technological means to redress the issue. The use of technology has reduced human involvement, making the entire mechanism technology-based. This chapter examines AI’s role in the hospitality field, with emerging trends in the said industry. Two research questions are discussed here: firstly, how effective AI can be in the hospitality sector, and secondly, how the use of AI in the hospitality sector harms the industry. Based on the discussion, conclusions have been drawn with relevant suggestions.
