ABSTRACT

The emergence and spread of infectious diseases with pandemic potential occurred regularly throughout history. The recent infectious disease that the world faced is the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This infectious respiratory virus has rapidly spread worldwide within a short time. The evidence shows that the high transmission rate of COVID-19 significantly affected healthcare supply chain management and created a public health crisis. Providing medical equipment and pharmaceutical products with minimum delays can save many people's lives worldwide during the pandemic. Since there is always an information transmission lag in traditional drug supply chain management and it can seriously impact the supply chain management efficiency, we investigate the effects of the internet of things in different states of the pharmaceutical supply chains. As an example, we consider a pharmaceutical industry supply chain in this paper and analyze the specific application of the internet of things in the drug supply chain.
