ABSTRACT

From the perspective of the design and identity management strategy of privately owned public space (POPS) in New York City (NYC), the article analyzed the problems in the development of POPS in NYC as well as their causes and solutions, with a focus on the identification approval procedure, design criteria, incentive policies, and supervision of POPS. Moreover, relevant experiences and lessons were explained. Finally, the impact of POPS in NYC on the architecture of public open spaces in China was discussed based on the current situation of urban development.
