ABSTRACT

This approach presents a new slot antenna for ISM-band CubeSat communications that is excited by a coplanar waveguide feed line. The suggested CPW-fed slot antenna (CPW-SA) reveals good impedance at 2450 MHz, it’s also small and has a large impedance bandwidth of 2360 MHz. Effects of a 3U satellite carcass on the antenna performances are also presented and examined in this study. We demonstrate how a small metallic component of the CubeSat body can be used to control the generated back-lobes of the formed CPW-SA in order to enlarge antenna gain in the boresight direction at 2450 MHz. It’s interesting to note that in order to reduce the antenna throwing from the satellite body, this contribution presents a process for merging planar antennas on the CubeSat’s box. The designed antenna has a superior gain of 9.0 dBi, wide HPBW, radiates unidirectionally, and produces good results for CubeSat communications at S-band.
