ABSTRACT

In this study, primarily the importance of destination management and how disasters and epidemics affect destinations are mentioned. It is possible to talk about many factors that affect the number of tourists visiting a destination. Disasters and epidemics, which are among these factors, cause sometimes short-term and sometimes long-term decreases in the number of tourists. Recently, it has been seen that these factors have a say in the attractiveness of a destination. As a result of the success shown in destination management after disasters and epidemics, the impact of material and moral damage to the region will be minimized, perhaps it will be able to gain a new attraction (ethically debatable) with tourism types such as disaster tourism or dark tourism. The management of these processes in the destination can determine the future of the destination. In this context, the study offers suggestions for the methods that can be followed in order to minimize the effects of material and moral damages caused by disasters and epidemics in destinations.
