ABSTRACT

It is increasingly being recognized that knowledge-based dynamic capabilities are potentially more viable to generate competitive advantage for a firm, rather than employing knowledge process capabilities or dynamic capabilities separately. The current study unbundles the dynamic capability concept and attempts to elucidate the nature of the associated processes, linking its roots to knowledge management. An exhaustive literature review was conducted to understand the concepts of knowledge management and dynamic capability through the lens of structuration theory. Further, an attempt is made to propose a framework built upon the existing literature, suggesting that sustained competitive advantage can be obtained by building dynamic capabilities with the help of knowledge management which is moderated by the trust within the organizations. This paper thus serves as a preliminary study introducing an integrated conceptual model and making propositions for future empirical research.
