ABSTRACT

Effective and realistic project management techniques for planning and scheduling are essential in the construction industry. This paper provides an overview of project management techniques for managing infrastructure projects. The critical Path Method (CPM) & Programme Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) are widely used but these techniques have certain limitations and are not effective for large-scale projects. To minimize the constraints in the project this paper introduced an advanced approach to the Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) project management technique. Critical Chain Project Management is the effective and feasible construction scheduling method used to address constraints such as project uncertainties, complexity, and resource scarcity. Critical Chain Project Management develops a robust schedule using a buffer to minimize the time and cost overruns in the project. This study additionally shows that for the timely completion of a project, CCPM provides a more flexible schedule than traditional techniques (CPM and PERT).
