ABSTRACT

Depression is seen as a significant impediment to quality of life. To document the current state of research, this paper evaluates the body of literature on the quality of life of the elderly related to depression. Through the search, 15 papers were found, bulk of which was on depression that lowers quality of life and minority on other relevant concerns. Research on relationships between depression and elderly people’s quality of life as well as therapeutic options for depression are mostly lacking and should be given higher priority. More study is required to increase conceptual knowledge of depression severity within the nation’s cultural setting. To address the multiple enacted, perceived, internalized, and layered forms of depression, context- specific therapies are required. The evaluation advises creating an agenda focused on the elderly quality of life and interventions to support the government’s objective of enhancing the elderly quality of life and well-being.
