ABSTRACT

Mysore Pak, an authentic South Indian sweet from Mysore city has been selling for the last 80 years and yet has not been acknowledged by folks of other parts of India. A sweet that has not yet found its perfect style of packaging. Generally, the external packaging design of a product does play a major role in attracting customers. Hence, understanding the roots of Mysore Pak and its existing packaging has been performed to get a firm grip on generating a new packaging design. Topics such as Mysore Pak’s origin, its specialties, and its ultimate taste were researched. Characteristics of its origin (Karnataka), the residing population, and the uniting features were also researched through surveys and interviews. Problems with the Mysore Pak packaging were also recognized to be rectified in the newly proposed solution. A final redesigned Mysore Pak packaging solution is also proposed.
