ABSTRACT

Music-integrated pedagogy is a relatively new approach to classroom teaching that offers a variety of methods and strategies for teaching and learning, employing music as a pedagogical tool. In the current investigation, research papers were systematically reviewed, and subsequently, evidence was summarized. The authors started by framing questions, followed by summarizing the findings, and finally interpreted the results, and concluded. Summarily putting the findings together, it is concluded that employing music as a pedagogical tool facilitates students’ behavior and self-confidence. Listening to or playing music has a direct bearing on students” intelligence, cognitive abilities, and brain functioning, thereby leading to academic achievement. Furthermore, making music actively engages the brain and increases its capacity by increasing the strengths of connections among neurons, thus leading to enhanced cortical and cognitive development. Authors have also critiqued the limitations of existing literature to improve future pedagogical designs.
