ABSTRACT

This study presented the important and substantive role of higher education and its relationship to achieving SDGs. The purpose of the study is to identify the role of higher education in achieving sustainable development goals. The study identified three major aspects of higher education (Economic growth, quality education, and Innovation) which can lead to attaining the sustainable development goal. This quantitative study focuses on the factors for achieving the SDGs through higher education. Data were gathered for the study from both primary and secondary sources. Structured questionnaires were used to gather primary data with information regarding sustainable development in higher education. The study concluded that higher education provides Economic growth, quality education, and innovation for attaining sustainable development goals. The study’s findings apply to an institutional level. HEIs may consider SDGs as a critical issue to be included in their strategic and policy documents.
