ABSTRACT

The aim of this book is to analyze the main implications of low-carbon transition to sustainable agriculture development in European Union by providing detailed analysis of policies and strategies aiming at low-carbon transition in agriculture, greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation and adaptation trends in European Union (EU) agriculture sector, and the impacts of low-carbon transition policies to sustainable agriculture and food systems development. For this purpose, the sustainable agriculture concepts, targets, measures, and indicators of sustainable agriculture development are analyzed and systematized, the importance of renewable energy and agricultural business in low-carbon transition and sustainable agriculture development is examined, and the case study on sustainability assessment of low-carbon transition policies in agriculture is developed for selected EU member states.
