ABSTRACT

With the rapid development of VTuber, VR live streaming provides new services for interactive storytelling and brings business opportunities to Metaverse. However, due to the existing VTuber character generation system, most are based on Japanese art forms. The lack of diverse art design types has caused many drama performances to fail to run smoothly on the VTuber platform. Therefore, this project proposes a framework for generating customized 3D avatars. Based on the perspective of storyteller role-playing in story teaching, the framework defines a 3D model in Virtual Reality Modeling (VRM) format so that the character can be widely used in service platforms that support VTuber roles, such as VRchat or VSeeFace. Taking the character development in the story of “The Little Prince” as an example, this study defines the design process a 3D virtual avatar should have. We hope this research will inform storytellers about creating avatars in parenting education or language learning.
