ABSTRACT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has penetrated our daily lives such as robots, drones, autonomous cars, unmanned stores, etc., which arouses students’ curiosity. However, students are not able to understand the above AI concepts by only watching videos or listening to teachers’ lectures. Therefore, this study, grounded on Dale's Learning Pyramid, aims to develop a virtual reality (VR) for elementary school students to explain the AI concepts, which are used in unmanned stores. Specifically, a virtual unmanned supermarket will be created, allowing students to experience buying groceries and checking out without clerks. Hopefully, the immersive and interactive VR experience could help students to understand the concepts by observing the operating process of the unmanned stores. This study designed an immersive and interactive VR for primary school students to experience the new mode of a supermarket and to learn the concept of computer vision.
