ABSTRACT

In recent years, Taiwan has been following the global trend of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology development, and the use of AI technology in daily life has become popular. In November 2022, the Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT) launched by OpenAI can interact with users in conversational dialogue forms and perform QNA, programming, and copywriting functions. ChatGPT has reached 100 million users worldwide as of January this year and is currently available for free and continues to expand its application. It is expected ChatGPT or similar AI technologies will be closely bound to daily life in the future, and there are already discussions on the understanding, use, and ethics of this new tool among the general public. Therefore, this study aims to investigate users’ acceptance and intention of using ChatGPT to understand the current status of this technology tool in their minds. A questionnaire survey will be conducted among adults over 18 years old in Taiwan. The facets of the survey are “willingness to use”, “intent to use”, “information trust”, and “stickiness to use”. The results are expected to inform user attitudes for industries that will be integrated with AI, provide insight into the research and education of AI technology from the perspective of user needs, and remind society and government to pay more attention to this issue and establish regulations.
