ABSTRACT

In recent years, the media have repeatedly broken out reports of academic misconduct which is extremely common, and has become a hot issue of general concern to society. Most domestic research relating to academic misconduct focuses on scholars engaged in academics, and research usually centered on the adverse effects of academic misconduct in the academic world. Among those, there is less literature on the specific effects of academic misconduct on society. Through a series of literature reviews and discussions, the paper explores the negative effects of academic misconduct on different groups in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the harm it causes to society. Based on these arguments, several feasible strategies are suggested by the study where a healthy and sustainable academic environment can be achievable.
