ABSTRACT

Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies and sustainability are currently reshaping trends in global supply chain management (SCM). Both are recognised as new developing trends in industry-related processes. In this perspective, SCM, enabled by the technology of Industry 4.0, has gained considerable attention. Researchers are combining I4.0 with sustainability ideas to create a new industrial revolution. The increased digitalization of global industries over the past few years has completely reconfigured the structure of the manufacturing and services sectors. This shift can be thought of as the fourth industrial revolution because it has shifted from a centralized production system to one that is more distributed and based on intelligence. There have been numerous studies on SCM, but relatively few have addressed the research trends and difficulties associated with integrating sustainability and I4.0. Between 2017 and 2023, 101 articles have been published in the Scopus database, with a 25.99% annual growth rate. The primary purpose of this study is to provide a conceptual overview of the areas where SCM and I4.0 intersect to encourage additional research and development that will benefit supply chain managers.
