ABSTRACT

The rapid growth the digital future in Industry 4.0 technologies is expressed to be the potential gateway of the future, particularly in the field of the supply chain. Artificial Intelligence (AI) acts as one of its most prominent methodologies since at present various industries and manufacturing organizations are transferring to control from remote monitoring, enhanced autonomous AI-based systems and finally efficient optimization systems to enhance their functionality. Thus, this immediate need requires the exploration of the contribution of AI in the field of supply chain management (SCM). As many researchers partitioned AI approaches in the domain of marketing, supply chain, logistics, and production in the context of SCM in literature. Based on the consideration of literature, this current study primarily clarifies how AI mainly contributes to SCM fields on the basis of a systematic literature review. This chapter discusses AI benefits in industries to reformulate evolution of modern day principles from proactive to reactive, from manual processes to autonomous processes and from production planning to production forecasting. It is evident from our study results that the integrated use of the Feature Learning (FL) approach, Agent-based Systems (ABSs) or Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) can address this issue efficiently. To address the remaining AI scientific gap in the field of SCM, this research study systematic literature review will also aim to consider the potential and current AI techniques which can improve both the practice and study of AI in the field of SCM by following a systematic literature review over the time span of 2014 to 2022.
