ABSTRACT

The advancement of information technology, rising customer aspirations, global economic integration, and other innovative and dynamic priorities have forced organizations to transform in today’s competitive economy. As a result, competition between businesses and their supply networks have replaced business competition. To build an integrated, efficient, effective, and agile supply chain in the current competitive market, supply chain specialists are having difficulty managing the enormous volumes of data. As a result of the supply chain’s massive growth in data volume and variety, it is necessary to develop technologies that can swiftly and intelligently evaluate enormous volumes of data. One of the best ways to help businesses solve their problems is through the use of Big Data analytics. Big Data analytics (BDA) is a technique for detecting significant trends and information in huge data sets. Consequently, the primary aim of this book chapter is to examine how Big Data analytics is used in supply chain management (SCM). Applications of Big Data, their opportunities and challenges in supply chain management will be explored. Fundamental principles in BDA and their application to future prediction will also be examined.
