ABSTRACT

Three isolated crewmen were rescued by cutting the bottom of the fishing vessel, but the rescue technology was determined while its safety of the bottom cutting was not guaranteed on the judgment that underwater rescue and further delay was impossible due to poor underwater environment, low water temperature and inflow of seawater etc. The objective of this study is to carry out the safety assessment of rescue technology for the bottom cutting of capsized vessel using Marine Accident Integrated Analysis System (MAIAS; highly advanced M&S system of Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) analysis technology) together with buoyancy calculation using hydrostatic characteristic calculation program.
