ABSTRACT

Each country’s economy relies heavily on the transportation industry. Yet, as tensions have increased in and around the transportation industry, new ideas for sustainable mobility have emerged. Sustainable mobility would have many advantages for society, the environment, and the economy, but it is not yet apparent whether this is even possible. One cannot overestimate the significance of transportation to economic development and the availability of resources. Transportation is the backbone of society, allowing individuals to go where they need to go and allowing businesses to reach their customers and distribute their products. Safe, reliable, integrated, multi-modal, effective, and environmentally friendly transportation systems (especially through the use of low/zero-emission cars, park-and-ride solutions, and so on) should be the goal of the transportation system to improve the quality of life in the city and the suburbs. Sustainable mobility encompasses several dimensions in terms of economics and society. Several of these may be classified under both environmental and technological issues. So, the purpose of this chapter is to examine sustainable mobility in terms of financial benefits, ecological advantages, and social benefits, taking into consideration the influence on the environment, the economy, and society, as well as the technological potential.
